The Story of Edam Cheese Ticket
At The Story of Edam Cheese, also known as the Edam Cheese Museum, you'll learn all about the history of one of the most popular products in the Netherlands.
The museum, located at Spui Street in central Edam, is housed in a beautiful traditional Dutch house from the 17th century. When you venture inside, you'll find numerous screens and other interactive elements that will help you understand the origins and evolution of Edam cheese.
What's more, you can take a selfie with the iconic round and orange Edam cheeses, which are stored on long shelves along the walls. During your visit, you'll learn about the best way to preserve these delicious dairy products so they smell and taste as they should.
The exhibition is also dedicated to the legacy of Henri Willig. This entrepreneur, born in Katwoude, a town just 10 minutes from Edam, took over his parents' dairy farm in 1974. Together with his wife, he began to produce high-quality cheese on a daily basis. Today, one of the most prestigious brands of Edam cheese is named after him.
The tour of the museum lasts an hour approximately.
