Karlovy Vary From Prague + Tickets
On the day of the trip, we'll meet at Na Příkopě, 23, and from this location in the center of Prague, we'll drive northeast. Ready to discover the most famous spa city in the Czech Republic?
After a road trip of about 2 hours, we'll reach our destination, where we'll embark on a guided tour of the historic center of Karlovy Vary. Along the walk, we'll reach some of the 12 thermal fountains to observe these fascinating sites.
Plus, during the tour, we'll pass by the famous Hotel Thermal and Grandhotel Pupp. We'll also stop in front of the Karlovy Vary City Theatre and the St. Mary Magdalene Church, a gem of Baroque Czech art.
We'll continue our trip by discovering the emblematic colonnades of Karlovy Vary. These elegant roofed galleries, most built between the 18th and 19th centuries, served to protect the mineral-medicinal springs. The most famous are the Mill Colonnade, the Park Colonnade, the Hot Spring Colonnade, the Market Colonnade, and the Castle Colonnade.
After admiring these structures, we'll go to the funicular station of Karlovy Vary, which will take us to the top of Friendship Hill (Výšina přátelství), standing at 1794 ft (547 m), in just 5 minutes. At the top, you'll find the Diana Observation Tower, a surveillance tower built in 1914, standing 104 ft (32 m) tall. Its summit is crowned by a viewpoint where you can enjoy beautiful scenic views of Karlovy Vary. Get ready to take thousands of photos!
Next to the tower, there's a rural restaurant with a tower, a butterfly museum, and a small zoo. After enjoying these attractions, we'll take the funicular back to the center of Karlovy Vary, where you'll have about 1 hour of free time to have lunch, stroll, and go shopping.
Finally, we'll regroup to start our journey back to the meeting point in Prague, where we'll conclude this 9.5-hour day trip.
