You'll fall in love with the cities, villages and landscapes of northern Portugal on this private tour of the Douro region. You'll discover some truly idyllic spots!
Tour Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Porto at the indicated time, we'll leave Porto to explore the Douro region. The journey by minibus will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, during which time we'll see the urban landscape give way to hills covered in terraced vineyards.
We’ll make a brief stop at a viewpoint for about 10 minutes to take in the first panoramic views of the Douro Vinhateiro and snap some photos. We'll continue the tour and arrive in Pinhão. As soon as we arrive, we'll board a boat for a 90-minute cruise along the Douro whilst enjoying a glass of wine or sparkling wine.
Back on dry land, we’ll head towards the Tua area, where we'll enjoy lunch at a traditional country house for approximately 2 hours. It’ll be the perfect opportunity to discover the local cuisine in an authentic setting, surrounded by vineyards.
The menu will consist of a selection of regional cheeses and cured meats as a starter. Next, you can choose between a juicy veal steak or a fish dish as your main course. To finish, we'll enjoy a seasonal dessert. All of this will be paired with a red wine and a white wine.
With our stomachs full, we'll take a half-hour ride on a panoramic train through the heart of the valley. Afterwards, we’ll return to Pinhão, where you’ll have around 20 minutes of free time to stroll around, take photos, or simply soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
Lastly, we'll spend an hour and 15 minutes visiting a winery and taking in the terraced landscape of the Douro Wine Region. Fancy ending the tour on a high note? We’ll do just that with a tasting of 3 wines!
Finally, we'll head back to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of between 8 and 9 hours.
