Tour Details
On the day of the tour, we’ll meet at Rua do Corpo da Guarda, No. 18, very close to the famous São Bento Station. Are you ready to explore Porto aboard a tuk-tuk? It’ll be a super comfortable and fun way to discover the city on the Douro River!
On this tour, we’ll wind through the streets of Porto’s Old Town and along its ancient city walls. Naturally, we’ll start by admiring the exterior of São Bento Station, followed by Porto Cathedral. The latter is one of the most significant examples of Portuguese Romanesque architecture, featuring a compact structure, thick walls, and the appearance of a fortified building. Time for a photo!
We’ll continue our tuk-tuk tour along Avenida dos Aliados, an urban thoroughfare lined with institutional buildings featuring eclectic architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In this area, we’ll explore the surroundings of the Carmo and Carmelite churches, two adjacent churches associated with the Rococo Baroque style, where it’s common to find side facades featuring large panels of ceramic tiles used as exterior cladding.
We’ll continue to the Clérigos Tower, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and then head to Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world.
Next, we’ll take a tuk-tuk ride along Rua das Taipas to Miragaia and Ribeira, with their magnificent views of the Douro River. Along this stretch, you’ll see a mix of medieval and modern narrow streets, with buildings on narrow lots, facades featuring metal balconies, and architecture adapted to the topography.
After this unforgettable experience, we’ll return to the meeting point, bringing the tuk-tuk tour to a close 50 minutes later.
