Visit the historic centre of the Balearic Islands' capital and its magnificent cathedral on our Palma de Mallorca & Cathedral Tour + Valldemossa activity. We'll also go to the beautiful village of Valldemossa, which you'll explore at your leisure.
Palma de Mallorca & Cathedral Tour + Valldemossa
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Parc de la Mar Tourist Office and start our guided visit of Palma de Mallorca.
On our 90-minute tour of Mallorca's capital, we'll begin by observing the statue of Es Foner. This iconic sculpture, which pays homage to the Balearic slinger, is located in the S'Hort del Rei gardens. After visiting this beautiful, Medieval park, we'll head to the Royal Palace of La Almudaina to admire its façade.
While we admire the palace's exterior, we'll learn about the history behind the Torre dels Caps. This ancient medieval watchtower, which once stood in this very place, was where the heads of executed prisoners were displayed. Our tour will continue on to Reina and Cort Squares, after which we'll enter a stately home in the historic centre so you can see a traditional Mallorcan courtyard.
We'll then go on a guided tour of Palma Cathedral, where we'll take note of the ornamental details on the altars of San Sebastián, Mayor and Santísimo. In the latter two, we'll see the unmistakable stamp of Antonio Gaudí and Miquel Barceló. We'll also take a look at the stained glass windows, as Palma Cathedral is home to the largest Gothic rose window in the world.
After visiting the cathedral, we'll take a northbound bus at 1:30 pm to Valldemossa. In just 30 minutes we'll arrive at this beautiful village, where you'll have 1 hour 30 minutes of free time. You'll be able to sample its gastronomy and explore its most iconic monuments. We recommend the gardens of the Royal Charterhouse, where the famous pianist Frédéric Chopin once lived.
It'll then be time to return to central Palma, where we'll arrive after a total of 4 and a half hours.
