Explore Palma de Mallorca

At the designated time, we'll meet at Plaza de España in Palma to kick off a 2-hour journey through time. From the majesty of its Gothic cathedral to the secrets of the Jewish quarter, we'll explore the legacy of the 4 cultures, Roman, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian, that shaped the Balearic capital. It's the perfect introduction to help you get your bearings and fall in love with the city.

We'll take in the imposing facade of La Seu, the stunning Cathedral of Palma, which is one of the tallest Gothic structures in Europe. We'll explain why its rose window is known as "the eye of the Gothic" and how the brilliant Antoni Gaudí left his mark on the interior renovation. Its golden stone against the sea backdrop is, without a doubt, the most iconic image of the Balearic Islands.

Just in front of the cathedral, we'll explore the exterior of the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, an ancient Muslim fortress that was transformed into the residence of the Kings of Mallorca in the 13th century. We'll discuss its architectural evolution and its current role as one of the official residences of the Spanish Royal Family.

We'll wander through the labyrinthine streets of the historic center, peeking into the famous Mallorcan courtyards that were once a symbol of status among the old nobility. We'll continue to some of the most important plazas in the vibrant heart of the city, to understand Palma's evolution from the Middle Ages to the present day.

We'll also venture into the heart of the old Jewish quarter, discovering the importance of the Jewish community in the island's cartography and trade, and how their influence lives on in the traditions and way of life of Mallorcans today.
