Explore Palermo by tuk tuk and admire its baroque and neoclassical architecture, from Teatro Massimo to the seafront facing Mount Pellegrino. An original way to discover the Sicilian capital.
Tour Details
After picking you up from your hotel, we’ll begin this tuk tuk tour of Palermo by heading into the historic center of the Sicilian capital. We’ll travel through baroque churches, palaces, and squares that preserve traces of centuries of Arab, Norman, and Spanish influence.
We’ll reach the impressive Teatro Massimo, one of the largest opera houses in Europe. In front of its monumental neoclassical façade, dominated by a large pronaos and Corinthian columns, we’ll learn more about its history. Did you know its staircase was used in the final scene of The Godfather Part III?
We’ll continue to Teatro Politeama, recognizable by its arch topped with bronze horses. This space marked the transition between historic Palermo and the bourgeois city of the 19th century.
We’ll travel along Via Roma while admiring its surrounding buildings. Each one, inspired by modernist and rationalist styles, reflects the major urban transformations that reshaped the city after Italian unification.
Finally, we’ll head toward Palermo’s seafront, where the urban layout opens onto the Mediterranean. There, the rocky profile of Mount Pellegrino will bring the route to a close.
We’ll say our goodbyes at this final stop after 1 hour of touring.
