We will pick you up from your hotel at 9:30 am to begin our amazing private tour of São Jorge and discover the most beautiful corners of the island. Our first stop will be at Parque Forestal das Sete Fuentes, a natural paradise full of cypress trees, pine trees, cryptomerias, and sequoias.
Once inside the park itself, we will go to Ponta dos Rosais, a stunning cape of volcanic origin where bird species, such as the common tern and the cory nest. Afterward, we will go to the Fajã de João Dias viewpoint to admire the stunning coastline.
You will find out why São Jorge cheese has a protected status, and also learn how it is produced, when we visit the Beira Cheese Factory. There, we will enjoy a tasting of this delicacy. Around 12 pm, we will take you to a traditional restaurant for a delicious buffet lunch.
After recharging our batteries, we will visit the elegant church of Santa Barbara, a small basilica that houses an important 18th-century tile mosaic. Then we will stop at Casa do Parque, a museum that where you can learn all about the Azores and its extraordinary geology.
We will continue the tour until we reach the Fajã do Ouvidor and the natural pool known as Simão Dias. If the weather is good, we will do some snorkeling in the crystal waters. São Jorge is known for its contrasting landscapes, like the ones we will see at Fajã dos Cubres, the Caldeira Santo Cristo, and the Fajã dos Vimes where we will also admire the coffee plantations.
Finally, we will arrive at Ponta do Topo, where the first men to set foot on the archipelago disembarked. We will finish the private tour of São Jorge by dropping you back at your hotel at 5:30 pm.
