On this excursion to Lipica, you'll visit one of the oldest horse farms in Slovenia and the Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After meeting at your selected meeting point in Trieste, we'll head to an old stud farm in Lipica, where we'll learn all about the famous Lipizzaner horse.
Upon arrival, we'll explore the farm surrounded by chestnut and oak trees. You'll learn about the history of the white Lipizzaner horse and the tradition of breeding these majestic animals - a tradition dating back more than 400 years!
After visiting the breeding farm, we'll make our way to the local Lipikum Museum and discover the peculiarities of this breed of horses. If we're lucky, we may even be able to catch one of the equestrian shows (not included).
Later, we'll leave the stud farm and head to the Škocjan Caves, one of the largest underground canyons in the world. They have even been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site! We'll explore the inside of the caves, marveling at its magnificent stalactites, rapids and lakes. We'll even cross a bridge situated 40 meters above an underground river, giving us unparalleled views of the canyon!
Before returning to Trieste, we'll explore the Škocjan Caves Regional Park, where we'll go on a stroll to check out its extraordinary geological and archaeological monuments.
After five hours of exploring, we'll return to our starting point in Trieste and call it a day.
