The guided tour of Tetouan begins at Plaza Moulay El Mehdi, where we'll meet in front of the Post Office. Ready to discover the white city of Morocco? Here we go!
First, we’ll see the imposing Church of Our Lady of Victory. Next, we'll walk to Hassan II Square, the center of local life in Tetouan. Here you’ll find the Royal Palace, the impressive building where the monarch resides when visiting the city.
After learning about its history, we’ll enter the narrow alleyways of the Medina, declared a World Heritage Site. In this area, we’ll visit the old Jewish quarter, or Mellah, where you’ll feel as if you’ve traveled to the past. We’ll also see up close the fascinating artisan process of the tanneries, where skins are dyed and tanned in the traditional way. We’ll learn all about this technique!
We’ll continue the tour by exploring different souks and bazaars of Tetouan, such as the Berber market, where we’ll see its various products of spices, ceramics, leather, and many other handicrafts.
Finally, after 2 hours of walking, we’ll end this guided tour of Tetouan by returning to the meeting point. See you soon!
