Etna & Taormina Tour
At 9:30 am on the morning of the tour, we'll meet in front of Porta Catania in Taormina. From there, we'll head inland towards the slopes of Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, about an hour away.
For the first stop of the day, we'll visit the Sapienza Refuge to learn about the most recent activity at the famous 3000-meter high volcano. Then, we'll go on a walking tour as we discuss the strongest eruptions over the years, especially the event in 1892.
Next, we'll return to Taormina, one of the most beautiful towns on the island. On a guided tour of the city, we'll walk along its main thoroughfare, Corso Umberto, and see the Duomo of Taormina, situated in a charming medieval square.
Delving even more into the city's past, we'll also visit its most important Roman remains, including the Greco-Roman theater of Taormina. While you discover the city's fascinating history, you'll enjoy extraordinary views of Mount Etna - one of the most famous images of Sicily!
The tour will finish at the starting point at around 3:30 pm.
