On this kayak tour of Tampa, we'll paddle through mangrove tunnels, spot exotic birds, and soak up the natural surroundings of the Shell Key Preserve. An unforgettable adventure on the Gulf of Mexico!
Activity Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Pinellas Bayway S. to kick off this kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. After a quick safety briefing and an introduction to paddling technique, we'll hit the water and explore one of the most beautiful spots in the area. Let's go!
Over approximately 3 hours, we'll follow our guide through the fascinating mangrove tunnels. Did you know this ecosystem is vital to the Florida coast? Along the way, we'll have the chance to observe the rich local biodiversity up close. With a bit of luck, we might spot dolphins leaping on the horizon or curious manatees gliding beneath our kayaks.
The skies will put on a show of their own, too! Keep an eye out for pelicans diving for food, cormorants surfacing around us, and elegant herons standing watch from the shore. Our guide will also share interesting facts about the history of the Shell Key Preserve and how Florida's conservation efforts have helped shape this natural sanctuary.
Before wrapping up, we'll stop at Shell Key or a nearby sandbar for 30 minutes of free time to swim in the crystal-clear water or stroll along the shore in search of seashells. The perfect moment to unwind and enjoy the sunshine!
Finally, we'll paddle back to the starting point, bringing this nature-filled experience to a close.
Wildlife Sightings
Please note that the likelihood of spotting local wildlife such as dolphins or manatees will depend on external factors such as weather conditions and animal migration seasons.
