Tour Details
Ready to travel back in time? We'll meet at the indicated time at the entrance of the Itálica Archeological Site. From here, we'll set off on an exciting free tour of Italica as we explore Roman ruins dating back to 206 BC. Let's go!
As we enter the grounds, we'll learn about the history of this archeological site, just 10 km (6.2 mi) from Seville. As the first Roman city built on the Iberian Peninsula, this site holds an enormous amount of history and cultural heritage. Famed Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian were even born here!
First, we'll begin our route with a visit to the Amphitheater, one of the largest in the Roman Empire and where famous gladiator fights took place. Then, we'll walk to the House of Exedra, a semicircular structure that was once used for social events and philosophical debates.
Next up, we'll head over to House of Neptune, where we'll find incredible mosaics of Neptune that are still well-preserved. From here, we'll continue on to the House of the Planetarium that was reserved exclusively for the city's nobility. As we observe the mosaics within, can you guess where the house gets its name from?
Then, after 1.5 hours of exploring this incredible site, we'll bring the tour to an end.
