First, we'll leave San Sebastián behind and travel toward San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Upon arrival, you'll fall in love with the beautiful scenery of its 10th-century hermitage, along with its surrounding cliffs.
We'll climb its 241 stairs to reach the summit of the rock. Get your cameras ready! During the walk, we'll tell you all the secrets of this site in the Basque coast and why it was the site chosen by many movie and TV directors to film their productions. After visiting San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, we'll head to Guernica, one of the most historic towns in the Basque Country. To learn about its past, we'll head to see the Gernikako Arbola and Picasso's Guernica mural. You'll also explore its center while we share the details of the bombing that the village suffered during the Spanish Civil War.
Finally, you'll have 1 hour of free time for lunch at a restaurant in Guernice. It's the perfect time to indulge in Basque cuisine!
After lunch, we'll begin our journey back to the starting point in San Sebastián, where we'll conclude this 7.5-hour day trip.
