With this ticket, you'll discover the Mamertine Prison, the symbolic prison of illustrious personalities of Ancient Rome, located at the foot of the Capitoline Hill, very close to the Roman Forum.
Thanks to the explanations of the audio guide in English, during the visit, you'll learn the stories of the men who crossed the threshold of the Mamertine Prison without ever returning. Among them were Jugurta, the king of Numidia who, after betraying Rome, was executed onsite in 104 BC, and Vercingetorix, the king of the Gauls defeated by Julius Caesar.
You'll be able to admire the structure of the prison, which was built on two levels: the deeper one, known as the Tullianum, which is the oldest part of the building, and the upper one, known as the Carcer, built a century later and embellished with a large travertine façade. Did you know that, according to Christian tradition, Saint Peter and Saint Paul were also imprisoned here?

Mamertine Prison is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Final admission is at 4 pm.
Children under 5 can enter for free and do not need a ticket.
