Welcome to the birthplace of rock and soul. In the FedEx Forum and Beale Street district, you’ll find the iconic Memphis Rock ’n’ Soul Museum, a space where the history of music comes alive.
With this ticket, you’ll explore exhibits designed as time capsules, featuring spacious rooms, soft lighting, and display cases protecting valuable historical objects. You’ll see the exhibition dedicated to the rise of rock and soul, originally created by the Smithsonian Institution. Here, you’ll learn how black and white musicians, separated by racial and economic barriers, united their voices through a shared love of music.
During your visit, you’ll see worn instruments, original recordings, and archival photographs that take you back to the 1930s, when field hollers and spirituals began shaping Memphis’s musical identity.
You’ll also walk through galleries showcasing stage costumes, microphones, and jukeboxes that reflect Beale Street’s golden age. With interactive headphones, you can explore more than 100 tracks, following the evolution of sound from early rural blues to the sophisticated soul of the 1970s.
When booking, you can choose the option that includes admission to the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. Located at the corner of Second Street and Beale Street, this iconic venue celebrates rhythm, memory, and musical legends.
Visiting this space feels like stepping backstage, with original outfits, signed guitars, timeworn sheet music, and previously unseen memorabilia. The tour also includes Lansky’s, the legendary store that dressed Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Rufus Thomas, where fashion and music came together to create lasting cultural icons.
