Discover the breathtaking lavender fields of Sault on this day trip from Marseille that also stops off at the beautiful villages of Roussillon and Gordes.
Sault Lavender Tour
The tour starts at 8 am when you meet your friendly guide in Marseille. We'll set off in the comfort of our minivan and enjoy the picturesque views of Provence as you drive into the heart of the region.
Our first destination of the day is Pays de Sault, where lavender and lavandin are grown and distilled.
Arriving in the village of Sault (known as the “capital of lavender”) you can enjoy some free time for your lunch and to wander and visit the lavender shops. Take the opportunity to taste local Provencal specialities like the nougat produced in the village with lavender honey and almonds or try some lavender ice-cream.
Next on our lavender tour is a visit to a local lavender producer during the distillation period. You'll learn all about the expertise employed in producing fine lavender essential oils.
After delighting ourselves with the flower fields, we'll visit a local producer and learn about the process of lavender distillation for use in essential oils.
Next up is a famous Luberon village. Known as one of “the most beautiful villages in France”, Gordes is perched high up in the Luberon. Admire its castle protecting the typical dry-stone houses of the village below.
Last stop? The lavender fields of the Abbey of Senanque. There, we'll take postcard photos surrounded by the violet hue of the lavender plant with the monastic building in the background. In addition, the peaceful atmosphere and the silence of this place will be the perfect finishing touch to the tour.
You will arrive back in Marseille at 6 pm.
