Private Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at number 9 of Plaza de España and, from there, we'll stroll to the largest palace in Western Europe.
We'll begin our private tour of the Royal Palace of Madrid by learning about the origins of this former residence of the Spanish monarchs. It was built in the 18th century on the remains of the former Habsburg Alcazar, which suffered a severe fire on Christmas Eve 1734.
After discovering how the palace has evolved since that fateful event, we'll begin to tour the main rooms of the Royal Palace. You're sure to be surprised by the decoration of the Official Rooms, where various State receptions are held at the highest diplomatic level.
We'll continue our tour by admiring the paintings, sculptures and tapestries of the Throne Room. We'll discover the meaning of the allegories present in this room before continuing on to other outstanding rooms in the Palace, such as the Porcelain Room and the Gala Dining Room, where the traditional State banquets are held.
Throughout the private tour, you'll also see works of art such as Flemish tapestries, frescoes by artists such as Giaquinto and Tiepolo and original period furniture. We'll also admire the Royal Palace's famous Stradivarius stringed instrument collection. It consists of two violins, a viola and a cello, and is considered one of the most valuable in the world!
Finally, after a 1.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll bring this tour to an end at the main entrance of the Royal Palace of Madrid. Adiós!
