Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet along Route de Périgueux in Les Eyzies from where we'll begin our guided tour of the Grotte du Grand Roc. Get ready to step into an underground world that's been preserved for thousands of years, where natural beauty and geological marvels come together.
Our adventure begins with a breathtaking view of the Vézère Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From this stunning vantage point, discovered in April 1924, you’ll get a sense of the region's historical significance before we descend 75 steps down into the cave. Fun fact, the temperature within the caves stays at 16° C (60° F) year round!
Once inside, we'll be surrounded by an extraordinary display of nature’s best work. The cave walls and ceilings are adorned with unique rock formations, including stalactites and stalagmites. The real stars of the show are the rare helictite formations, jagged limestone towers, of which we’ll gain insight into the formation of these structures alongside our friendly guide.
After about 40 minutes of exploration, our underground adventure will come to an end at the cave entrance.
