Tour Details
We'll meet at exit 2 of Gojo subway station at the appointed time. Once there, we'll hop on a bike, and after adjusting your helmet and checking that everything is in order, we'll begin the tour. Are you ready to delve into the historic streets of Gion? Let's go and explore the geisha district.
Did you know that this district of Kyoto is one of the most visited in Japan? Here you can see the famous geishas dressed in colorful kimonos, who can often be seen on the Tatsumi wooden bridge or on Hanamikoji Street.
We'll continue our bike ride to the peaceful Nanzen-ji Temple, one of Japan's most important Zen temples, and cycle along the Philosopher's Walk, a beautiful route along the banks of a canal. And why is it called that? This route was taken every day by the famous philosopher Kitaro Nishida on his way to university.
From here, we'll head to Ginkaku-ji, or the Silver Pavilion, an impressive temple with peaceful gardens. Next, we'll head to Shimogamo Shrine, one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Kyoto. The last stop on our bike tour of Kyoto will be the Imperial Palace, the former residence of the Japanese imperial family. What stories lie behind its walls? We'll tell you all about it!
Then, we'll return to the starting point of the tour to drop off the bikes and say goodbye 4 hours later.
