During this tour, we'll visit Krakow's most historic sights, including the Royal Mile, the most famous street in Krakow, the most important buildings in the city, all the while discovering its history and stories. Some of the places where we'll stop are Slowacki Theater, Jagiellonsky University, University Quarter, Market Square, Cloth Market, St. Mary's Basilica, and Wawel Hill.
The walk continues to visit Kazimierz, the best-preserved Jewish quarter in Europe, where Jewish customs and culture have created a unique atmosphere.
First, we'll visit the Krakow Market Square, considered the largest medieval square in Europe. Here we can see the great Renaissance building of the Krakow Cloth Hall and St. Mary's Basilica with its two Gothic towers. Next, we'll visit the university district and its oldest building: Collegium Maius, dating from the 15th century. Did you know that the famous astronomer Copernicus studied there?
Afterwards, we'll continue with the route to see the Italian-Polish buildings: the Palace of the Bishops of Krakow and the Gothic brick basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. One of the oldest in the city! Then, we'll climb Wawel Hill to visit St. Wenceslas Cathedral, an unusual mish-mash of styles and colors, and home to the mausoleum of St. Stanislaus.
Next, we'll visit the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz and visit places related to the filming of Schindler's List and the interior of one of the synagogues. You'll have 20 minutes of free time to get yourself some lunch. We'll complete the tour with a visit to a part of the ghetto, crossing the Wisla River on foot over the beautiful Bernadka Bridge. We'll finish the tour in the vicinity of Oskar Shindler's Factory, where, if you wish, you can take a tour on your own. Please note, however, that the Schindler factory is closed every Monday and the first Tuesday of the month.
If you select this option, you'll discover the history of Krakow by visiting the outside of two of the most beautiful attractions of the capital: the Cathedral and Wawel Hill. We'll meet at 10 am at Kanonicza 25. First, we'll head inside the Krakow Cathedral, where we'll admire the famous dragon bones of the city, as well as chapels and tombs of some Polish kings.
Afterwards, we'll visit Wawel Castle, a place oozing fascinating stories. Did you know that the largest collection of Flemish tapestries in the world is located here? Impressive! We'll also see the Dragon Cave and see the famous statue of the fire-breathing dragon. After three hours of sightseeing, we'll say goodbye on the banks of the Vistula River.
On this option, we'll take a complete tour through the historic centre of Krakow. We'll walk along the Royal Mile - a route which will bring us past the city's most iconic buildings, including Slowacki Theatre, Jagiellonian University, the Market Square, St. Mary's Basilica, and Wawel Hill and Cathedral.
For the main event, we'll also visit the Czartoryski Museum, which is home to one of the great treasures in art history: Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci.
