If you love animals and nature, join this excursion from Koper to Lipica and the Škocjan Caves. You'll discover two important emblems of Slovenia!
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Koper at 9 am on the morning of the tour. From there we'll hit the road for Lipica, the origin of the Lipizzaner white horse, to discover one of the most important emblems of Slovenia! In fact, such is the fame of these animals that they even appear on the country's 20 cent coins.
Entering one of the oldest stud farms in the area, you'll learn about the origin of these beautiful horses as well as the daily care they receive, a real tradition! In addition, the karst landscape of Lipica makes this region one of the most special in Slovenia.
During the guided tour of the farm, you can get up close to the horses and explore the Lipikum Museum. If you wish, you can even watch a Lipizzaner horse show and admire the white horses in action!
Next, we'll leave the horse farm and head to the Škocjan caves, a World Heritage Site that represents one of the most significant subterranean phenomena in the world.
As soon as you enter the caves, you'll be amazed by its karst formations along the Reka River. Figures like the organ, the Big Collapse Doline or the impressive Murmuring Cave will leave you speechless. As a matter of fact, the Skocjan caves house one of the largest underground canyons on the planet, making for a truly unique experience.
At the end of the excursion, we will return to Koper, arriving at 2 pm.
