About the Canfranc Express
The Canfranc Express is a sightseeing railway in the Aragonese Pyrenees that runs through one of the most beautiful areas in the province of Huesca.
This charming vintage train, which has been recently restored, has been declared a Historic Railway Heritage. The convoy consists of a Series 315 locomotive from the 1950s, carriages from the 1930s, and even a wagon for transporting bicycles.
Without a doubt, it's truly a journey back in time through the captivating valley of the Aragón River.
The Train Journey
At the designated time, we'll set off on board the Canfranc Express by departing from the Jaca Train Station.
On a 30-minute journey through the beautiful landscapes of the Aragonese Pyrenees, you'll enjoy a unique scenery filled with forests and mountains.
The train makes mid-way stops in Castiello de Jaca and Villanúa. From there, it continues its journey toward Canfranc, whose railway terminal is considered one of the most beautiful train stations in Spain.
The old station is no longer in use, but it's been renovated as a 5-star hotel, conserving all of the charm from its time. Its proximity to France made this terminal a strategic spot, especially during the Second World War.
Once you reach this beautiful place, you'll have 5 hours of free time. We recommend making the most of this time to stroll around the area, enjoy the exquisite cuisine from Huelva.
Finally, at the designated time, you'll need to take the train back to Jaca.
