Activity Details
Feeling creative? To unleash that spark, we’ll meet on Lüleci Hendek Street in Istanbul. There, we’ll begin our glass painting workshop and immerse ourselves in a world of color.
We’ll start with an introduction to the origins of this technique in Turkey, exploring how light and glass have interacted for centuries in mosques, palaces, and Ottoman homes. After this historical overview, you’ll choose the design that best reflects your style, from geometric motifs inspired by Islamic art to floral patterns and contemporary compositions.
Next, we’ll learn how to outline our design with a steady hand and apply a range of translucent pigments. Did you know that in Istanbul, colored glass was also used as a symbolic language?
Once you’re satisfied with your painting, we’ll set it aside to dry and take a short break. When we return, we’ll refine the final details and observe how the piece transforms as it catches the light.
Finally, we’ll carefully frame your creation so you can take it home as a reminder of this fun cultural experience. The workshop will end after approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
