By booking your tickets to visit the Galata Tower, you’ll discover one of Istanbul’s must-see landmarks. You’ll climb to its viewpoint and have an audio guide to learn about its history.
Galata Tower
The Galata Tower is undoubtedly one of the most iconic monuments in Istanbul. Located in one of the city’s most picturesque areas, next to the Golden Horn, this watchtower has been overlooking Istanbul for more than 600 years.
The Galata Tower was built in the 6th century as a lighthouse and watchtower to guard against possible invasions. However, it was later remodeled by Genoese merchants who arrived in Istanbul and turned it into a strategic point for their activities.
This ticket includes an audio guide in English that will allow you to learn about the history of one of the oldest towers in the world. As you explore its interior, you’ll discover its legends and learn about the different uses it has had over the centuries.
In addition, its 61 m (200 ft) height makes it one of the best viewpoints in Istanbul. From here, you’ll have the Galata neighborhood at your feet and enjoy a complete panorama of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus, the Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia.
To make your experience even more magical, we recommend going up to the viewpoint at sunset, when the colors that bathe Istanbul make it a truly special city that will captivate you.
