This hiking route through the Cahorros de Monachil is one of the easiest yet prettiest treks just a few kilometres from the city of Granada.

Cahorros de Monachil Hike

We'll meet at the agreed time at the Plaza del Profesor Fontboté. When everyone is ready, we'll board a minibus and leave Granada behind to head towards the Sierra Nevada National Park, located 20 minutes away.

This 3.5-mile (6 km) hiking route is suitable for everyone, as you don't need a particularly good level of fitness. In fact, it's a perfect family day out in the mountains.

As we trek, we'll enjoy a beautiful natural landscape. We'll also cross several suspension bridges, providing you with incredible views.

There is no doubt that this Cahorros de Monachil hiking route is one of the best ways to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the stunning natural scenery in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

We'll finish the tour back at the starting point after 3 hours of connecting with nature.

Itinerary Changes

Due to heavy rainfall this year, part of the trail suffered damage and minor rockfalls. As a result, a section of the canyon area is currently closed for maintenance and safety works.

Los Cahorros has several alternative paths and the route has been adapted to continue exploring the same areas and landscapes as the original experience. You'll still enjoy the majority of the usual route. Only a small section of the canyons cannot currently be crossed, though it can still be admired from a different vantage point.
