Looking to try surfing at one of the best beaches in Portugal? At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Jardim de Santa Luzia bus stop in Funchal and head to Madeira. Let's go surfing at Porto da Cruz beach!
Once we arrive at the beach, we'll give you all the necessary equipment needed to try our hand at surfing. With our wetsuits on and our board in hand, we'll get to work. First, we'll practice the basic movements on solid ground, that is, on the beach. This part is key to applying the movements in the water, so pay extra close attention!
With a good handle on the essential moves, it's time to hit the water and put our theory into practice. In fact, the waters of Porto da Cruz are a favorite among surfers who come to Madeira to experience the swells.
As we paddle out into the water, you can catch as many waves as you want, enjoying the ride along the way. Remember, surfing is a difficult sport, and lots of practice is needed, so don't feel discouraged!
After 2 hours of learning, we'll return to the sandy beach for a rest, where we can also leave our equipment. Then, dried off, we'll return to Funchal, dropping you off at the meeting point 4 hours later.
