Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Plaza de la Independencia. This square is home to the city's green lung, the Parque Ribalta Park, as well as some beautiful modernist houses. Ready to embark on a free tour of Castellón de la Plana?
We'll go into the heart of the city and discover places steeped in history, such as Plaza de Tetuán, where we'll admire the beautiful façade of the Post Office building. Inaugurated in 1932, its mixture of styles between neo-Mudejar and Valencian modernism make it one of the most unique buildings in Castellón.
Then, we'll continue our tour walking along the Avenida del Rey Jaume I. On our way, we'll come across Plaza Huertos Sogueros, adorned with the statue of Les Cordeliers by Joan Ripollés.
Next, we'll pass through the Puerta del Sol, a monumental complex flanked by early 20th-century modernist buildings, such as the Hotel Suizo, the Casino Antiguo and the old Banco de Castelló.
The route continues in Plaza Santa Clara, a spot dedicated to leisure and gastronomy. Right next to it, we'll come across Castellón's Plaza Mayor, where we'll see the Town Hall, the Central Market of Castellón, and the façade of Castellón Co-Cathedral. As we'll see, this is a real jewel of Valencian Gothic architecture, which also incorporates elements of other styles and artistic trends. We'll also admire its bell tower: El Fadrí. Did you know that it's a symbol of Castellón?
Finally, after a total of 2 hours, we'll bring the tour to an end.
