Day Trip Details
We'll meet at the tourist office in Avignon at the time indicated to board a minibus to take us through Provence. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful areas in France? Let's go!
Our first stop will be Roussillon, a small town full of ochre-colored houses. We'll walk through this village, considered to be one of the most beautiful in France, and admire the famous ochre cliffs, such as Le Sentier des Ocres. Its central square, decorated with flowers, will be a perfect setting for your photographs. If you take this day trip on a Thursday, we'll visit its traditional market.
Next, the tour will head to the outskirts of Gordes, the hanging village in France. We'll make a brief stop at a viewpoint outside this town for you to take pictures, then we'll continue to travel inland towards Fontaine de Vaucluse. Here, we'll walk along the path towards the Sorgues River, and you'll have free time to go to a local restaurant.
Following on, we'll go to the center of the city of Saint Rémy, a village surrounded by beautiful landscapes and architecture. Did you know that the paintings by Vincent Van Gogh are inspired by one of the places in Saint Rémy?
After returning to the road, we'll stop at Les Baux de Provence, where you'll have about an hour of free time to explore this medieval fortress on your own.
We'll then head to the famous Pont du Gard, an aqueduct built by the Roman Empire in the first century. We'll learn all about excellent conservation, as well as its importance for the nearby villages.
Finally, we'll return to Avignon and arrive at the starting point after a 10.5-hour day trip.
