If you're a history lover and want to find out more about Ancient Greece, then you can't miss out on the chance to visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympieion. This spectacular temple built between 470 and 456 BC, was one of the biggest religious structures in the ancient world.
Initially, it was held up by 104 Corinthian columns, only 15 of which remain, and had some impressive dimensions: 180 metres (590 feet) long and 40 metres (131 feet) wide. Back in the day, a huge gold and ivory statue of Zeus was also erected, but it has sadly not survived the passage of time.
