Which celestial bodies shine in the skies of the Costa Blanca? You’ll discover them on this stargazing experience in Alicante, which takes place at Cabo de las Huertas, an area free from light pollution.
Activity Details
Ready to admire the night sky? At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at Cala de la Palmera. This beach at Cabo de las Huertas, located just 30 minutes by car from downtown Alicante, is one of the main astrotourism spots on the Costa Blanca thanks to its lack of light pollution.
First, we’ll watch the sunset, featuring one of the most important stars in our galaxy, the Sun. While we enjoy the sunset, we’ll toast with a glass of wine with DO Alicante and talk about the characteristics of the Sun. We’ll also take photos using solar filters, discovering its prominences.
As night falls, we’ll enjoy an exciting stargazing activity observing stars, planets, constellations, nebulae, and galaxies. To do so, we’ll use automated telescopes and laser pointers.
We’ll also show you how to use different tools, such as a planisphere, and we’ll learn about the legends that Mediterranean cultures associated with each constellation. It’ll be the perfect blend of nature, science, and mythology.
Finally, after observing the stars and celestial bodies, we’ll end this 2 to 3-hour activity at the meeting point.
