Valley of the Temples Sunset Tour
Let's plan to meet at the Porta di Giunone and set ourselves up for a stunning tour of the Valley of the Temples at sunset, in Agrigento. It's bound to be a visit full of history, art, and mythology!
Our adventure will begin at the entrance of the Temple of Juno, where we'll travel back in time to uncover the secrets of the most important archaeological site in Sicily. Here, we'll reveal fascinating stories about the ancient rituals and celebrations that took place in this sanctuary. As we tour the site, we'll be treated to the perfect backdrop, full of sprawling valleys bathed in the light of the day's final sun rays.
As we continue walking to the Temple of Heracles, surrounded by columns, we'll discover one of the oldest buildings in the valley. From here, we'll make our way to the Temple of Concord, a perfect example of Doric architecture. Its perfect proportions and harmonious design, put together with the sunset in the background will create a magical image, one for the picture books!
The tour will continue at the Temple of Olympian Zeus, where the colossal columns and the enormous dimensions of its ruins will remind us of its importance in times past. The visit through the Valley of the Temples will end at the Porta V, previously one of the main entrances to the city that led directly to the great sanctuary of the Chthonic deities. What mysteries and beliefs developed around the Underworld? We'll tell you all about it!
